We operate a manual sortation system, which allows us to be more flexible in the freight we carry and ensures we have a much lower incidence of damage compared to automated belt systems. It also allows us to effectively deal with a wider variety of freight.
London Olympics 2012
XDP have been working over the last 6 months to ensure that we are able to offer our customers the same standard of service during what will be a very busy and congested time.
In order to do this we have set up a dedicated Olympics delivery depot to offer deliveries during midnight and 6am to those businesses located on or close to the Olympic and Paralympic Route networks.
In order to deal with Deliveries in Weymouth and Dorset Centre we are introducing a new service level, to ensure that deliveries can be made.
Only UPS will be allowed access to Lockdown areas (venues and official accommodation and admin areas). We will be able to arrange deliveries for you through UPS to collection points inside the venues. These deliveries will be subject to security surcharges, which UPS are imposing; we have no control over these added costs, but we will only pass on the cost to you as we are charged.
Working in conjunction with organisations such as Transport for London and the Olympic Delivery Authority we have compiled a detailed matrix of where the heaviest congestion and delays will occur, which can be viewed HERE
We have worked out a full strategy for dealing with deliveries in London and other affected areas. Full details of our Olympic plan and any extra costs or surcharges will be available through your normal logon from the end of May 2012.
There will be inevitably delays and severe congestion around the Olympic and Paralympic venues, however we are constantly monitoring the information being made available and can assure you that we are taking all the steps required to ensure that the games are a success for everyone and not just Team GB.
Unfortunately because of the disruption and congestion we will be unable to offer guaranteed services to areas affected by the Olympic and Paralympic games (games venues, ORN, PRN and surrounding areas) and therefore we will not be issuing any credits for deliveries, which are delayed to these areas.
